Eva Koester

Eva Koester, PE, is a Sustainability Specialist at SmithGroup since June 2019, with a robust focus on sustainable building practices, including over 22 projects involving LEED, SITES, and LBC certifications. Koester leads initiatives like the Embodied Carbon Task Force, achieving significant carbon reductions across multiple projects. Prior to this, Koester held civil engineering positions where contributions included sustainable design frameworks, energy decarbonization strategies, and innovative infrastructure designs. Additional experience includes consulting roles aimed at promoting local food economies and conducting impactful research on sustainable practices. Koester holds a Master’s degree in Design Science with a focus on Sustainable Design from the University of Michigan, along with an undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from the same institution.
