Robert Thompson

Robert Thompson, PE, is a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in laboratory-focused projects and semiconductor facilities. Currently serving as the Lead Mechanical Engineer at SmithGroup since November 1998, Robert specializes in the Science & Technology Studio, contributing to the design of research facilities, university buildings, crime labs, vivariums, and medical examiner offices. Prior to this role, Robert has worked at CH2M Hill IDC from January 1997 to October 1998, focusing on HVAC and mechanical piping system design for microelectronics and cleanrooms, particularly supporting the Intel FAB 12 project in Chandler, AZ. Additionally, Robert was employed at Technology, Design, & Construction (TDC) from September 1994 to December 1996, where responsibilities included overseeing the construction of semiconductor facilities for Intel. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona, earned between 1990 and 1994.
