James Collett

James Collett is currently the Chief Executive: Data & Technology at Smollan since January 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Data Officer at Smollan from March 2020 to September 2023. Before joining Smollan, they held the position of CEO at DataOrbis from August 2015, and previously served as the Managing Director from October 2011 to July 2015. James also worked at Synovate as the CFO Africa from January 2009 to May 2011, and as the Finance Director South Africa from October 2007 to May 2011. James Collett also held the position of Finance Director South Africa at Synovate Aztec from September 2006 to May 2011. Before that, they co-founded and served as the Director of Infocy from February 2001 to September 2006, where they were responsible for the financial aspects and the development of the data warehousing and IT infrastructure. James'searlier experience includes working as a Manager ISRM at PwC from January 2000 to January 2001, and as an Articled Clerk from January 1997 to December 1999.

James Collett obtained a PDGA degree in Accounting, Audit, Tax and Finance from the University of Cape Town in 1995-1996. Prior to that, they completed a B. Com (Acc) degree in the same field at Stellenbosch University from 1992-1994. James'searlier education includes attending Kingswood College from 1985-1991, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned. In 2017, they obtained a certification in "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" from Coursera.
