Derek J. Veilleux has over 22 years of experience in the field of architecture. Derek J. worked at Harriman Associates as an Intern Architect from August 1998 to February 2000. Derek J. then joined SMRT Inc. in February 2000 as a Healthcare Architect and Team Leader. In June 2012, they took on the role of Healthcare Architectural Discipline Leader, providing professional guidance and mentorship to architectural staff. In October 2014, they became the Principal and Healthcare Architectural Discipline Leader at SMRT Inc., where they oversaw staffing, conducted performance evaluations, and identified potential candidates for employment. In January 2016, they assumed the position of Principal and Director of Health & Wellness Practice at SMRT Inc.

Derek J. Veilleux, AIA, EDAC, NCARB completed their Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Building Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Their studies focused on Architecture, Building Science, with a concentration in Psychology. In 2014, Derek obtained the Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) from The Center for Health Design.
