David McKinney began their work experience in 1991 as a member of the U.S. Army's 100th Engineer Company. David served in this role until November 1995. In December 1995, they joined Bailey Engineering Inc. in Anniston, Alabama, where they worked until June 1998. McKinney then joined SMW Engineering Group, Inc. in June 1998 as the Director of Surveying, a role that they currently hold.
David McKinney attended Powell Valley High School from 1983 to 1986. David then went on to study at Fayetteville Tech Community College.
