Spencer Colson

VP Business Development - Strategic Products at SMX

Spencer Colson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the technology industry. Spencer started their career at Facility Management Engineering, where they worked their way up to become a co-owner and VP of Services. In this role, they were responsible for client relationship management, solution architecture, project management, and employee mentoring. Spencer also played a key role in the design and integration management of NASA's IT maintenance system.

Colson then joined Smartronix, where they held multiple positions over the years. Spencer served as a Senior Business Development Manager for Cloud Services, where they played a role in developing and delivering cloud-enabled solutions. Spencer later became the Director of Commercial Sales for Cloud Services, where they led business development and go-to-market strategies for the company's commercial public cloud practice. Most recently, they served as the VP of Business Development for Strategic Products, focusing on bringing repeatable cloud solutions to regulated industries and building go-to-market strategies for various services.

In addition to their roles at Smartronix, Colson also worked as a Solution Architect and Project Manager, providing enterprise IT architectural design and program-specific engineering across cloud and healthcare IT activities. Spencer was responsible for integrating the efforts of other architects, system designers, and engineers and leveraging past performance with Treasury.

Throughout their career, Colson has demonstrated a strong commitment to driving innovation, delivering technically advanced solutions, and building strategic partnerships.

Spencer Colson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah, where they studied from 1993 to 2000. In addition to their degree, they also obtained certifications as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Level from Amazon Web Services and as a Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute in 2013 and 2011 respectively.
