Patrick Auvrèle

Chief Safety Officer at SNCF

An engineer by training, Patrick Auvrèle received a Mastère in quality management from École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Métiers in 1991. He has spent much of his career at SNCF Group. After holding various positions in engineering and operations, he took the helm of the strategic rail maintenance programme in 2007, and in 2009 he became head of the maintenance department for freight wagons and locomotives.

From 2012 to 2015, he served as director of TER regional rail in Champagne Ardenne, representing SNCF Group in the region. In 2015, he was named head of the PRISME programme, tasked with transforming safety management at SNCF.

Mr Auvrèle returned to the Rolling Stock Division in 2017, as head of its Evolution Project, and from 2019 to 2022 he led its Asset Management unit, where he oversaw the sweeping OPTER programme for mid-life renovation of the TER fleet.
