They obtained a BEng (Hons) degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, spanning from 1993 to 1997. Following this, Lindsay pursued further education at the same university, earning a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence from 1997 to 1999. After that, they also obtained another PhD, this time in Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Genetic Algorithms, Genetic Programming, and NNs, from the University of Liverpool from 1999 to 2000.
