Deborah Stachel

Deborah Stachel has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Deborah began their career in 1993 as a Judicial Law Clerk for the New Jersey Superior Court, where they served until 1994. From 1995 to 1996, they worked as a Judicial Law Clerk and courtroom deputy for Magistrate Judge James C. Francis, IV at the United States District Court for The Southern District of New York.

In 1996, Deborah joined the New York City Law Department as an Assistant Corporation Counsel, holding the position until 1998. Deborah then moved on to the United States Courts for the Ninth Circuit, where they worked as a Staff Attorney from 1999 to 2003.

Since 2003, Deborah has been associated with the Social Security Administration. Deborah started as an Assistant Regional Counsel and worked their way up to become a Supervisory Attorney from 2008 to 2014. From 2014 to 2015, they served as the Deputy Regional Chief Counsel and later took on the role of Regional Chief Counsel. In February 2022, they assumed the position of Executive Director, Office of Legal Operations, Office of the General Counsel, where they currently work. Throughout their tenure at the Social Security Administration, Deborah demonstrated leadership skills and oversaw various aspects of legal and operational management.

Deborah Stachel holds a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, which they obtained from 1990 to 1993. Deborah completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) in American Studies/Sociology at Boston University from 1984 to 1988. Deborah also earned a High School Diploma from Princeton Day School from 1979 to 1984. Moreover, they pursued Executive & Management Training Courses on Leadership, Team Building & Managing Virtual Teams, receiving certificates from the US Office of Personnel Management between 2012 and 2019. Recently, Deborah attained a Certificate in Artificial Intelligence from the Partnership for Public Service in 2022. Deborah is also currently pursuing a Certificate of Business Excellence from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, specializing in High Impact Leadership, Financial Data Analysis, Product Management, and Strategy Execution thru Culture, which they began in 2016 and is expected to complete in 2022.
