Derek Peebles has held a variety of roles in the business world since 2007. Derek began their career as a Small Business Banker at JPMorgan Chase, followed by a role as a Public Ally at Public Allies in 2009. In 2011, they became Development Manager/Community Connector at Elementz Hip Hop Youth Arts Center and President of Mayor John Cranley's Young Professional Kitchen Cabinet (YPKC). In 2012, they began working as an Academic Advisor/Upward Bound at the College of Mount St. Joseph. In 2015, they assumed the role of Associate Vice President Youth Services at the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio. In 2016, they became Director of the Economics of Compassion Initiative. In 2019, they were appointed Executive Director of the American Independent Business Alliance. In 2021, they joined BELLA as a Member Of The Board Of Advisors and in 2022 they were appointed Senior Director Policy & Advocacy, Inclusive Economy at the American Sustainable Business Network.
Derek Peebles attended Fern Creek High School from 1996 to 2000 and graduated with a Diploma in Health and Physical Education/Fitness. Derek then attended Eastern Kentucky University from 2000 to 2005 and earned a BA in Public Relations.
