Jamela Peterson has a diverse range of work experience that spans various industries and roles. In 2016, they founded SocialPreneur Lab, an edtech and fintech platform that aims to build Black wealth through education and entrepreneurship. Jamela also served as the CEO of the company. In 2022, Jamela joined the inaugural cohort of Build in Tulsa Techstars Accelerator, a tech startup. Prior to these roles, they were part of GRAVITY, the inaugural cohort of The Reinvention Lab at Teach for America in 2021. In 2019, Jamela was a Rally Fellow at Rally | Social Enterprise Accelerator, where they helped early-stage social ventures and entrepreneurs develop sustainable ventures. Jamela also graduated from Founder Gym as part of Cohort 6, which is an online training center for underrepresented founders looking to build successful tech startups. Before that, they worked as the Manager of Entrepreneurial Education at e2e Accelerator, Inc. and as a Community Outreach Coordinator at Wichita State University. In 2015, Jamela served as a Community Health Planner- VISTA Fellow at Sedgwick County Health Department, where they facilitated health assessments and coordinated community surveys. Their earlier work experience includes roles as a Neighborhood Revitalization Crew Leader at Our Town's Habitat for Humanity and a Business Development Intern at Afara Global.
Jamela Peterson attended Davidson College from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology. In 2022, they also briefly enrolled in Holberton School to pursue studies in Full Stack Software Development, although no degree was specified.
