Bastien Boutonnet

Bastien Boutonnet's work experience begins in 2013 when they worked as a Research Support Officer at Bangor University, where they conducted research on emotion processing in language and provided support to a team of researchers.

In 2014, Boutonnet became a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they investigated how the brain recognizes objects and how language affects perception. Their contributions to this project were featured in a influential paper, leading to follow-up studies by other laboratories.

From 2015 to 2016, Boutonnet served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Leiden University. Bastien led a research project focusing on language comprehension and prediction, resulting in a published paper, conference appearances, and a TED talk.

Starting in 2016, Boutonnet worked as a Data Scientist at TravelBird, where they built an advanced marketing attribution model and a demand forecasting model to improve profitability and strategic planning.

In 2019, Boutonnet joined TripActions as a Senior Data Scientist, where they led projects involving NLP receipt itemization, content recommendation, revenue optimization, search personalization, and geospatial clustering. Bastien also worked closely with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into data products.

Most recently, Boutonnet became the Intelligence & Automation Products Lead at Soda.io in 2021. Their role involves building and leading a team responsible for developing solutions and data products to automate the detection and resolution of data quality issues.

Bastien Boutonnet earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Psychology & Cognitive Neuroscience from Bangor University, completing the program from 2009 to 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Linguistics & Language Acquisition from Newcastle University, which they pursued from 2008 to 2009. In addition to their degrees, they have also obtained a certification in Neural Networks and Deep Learning from Coursera in 2017.
