Miles Hobdy has an extensive work experience in the engineering and energy industry. Miles began their career at SOFEC, Inc. in 1992 as a Turret Mooring Lead Mechanical Engineer, where they oversaw the mechanical engineering group's activities related to mooring systems. Miles also collaborated with various stakeholders such as customers, certifying authorities, and vendors. After leaving SOFEC, Inc. in 2001, Miles worked as a Single Point Mooring Specialist at ConocoPhillips from 2004 to 2006. Miles then joined Petrobras America Inc. in 2007 as a Turret Mooring System Coordinator until 2012. Following that, they served as a Rosebank Turret Engineer (Contractor) at Chevron from 2012 to 2015. In 2015, Miles joined Treadwater Energy Inc. as President, providing technical and project engineering services to major oil and gas companies, with a focus on FPS, FPSO, and SPM turret mooring systems. Miles is also involved in the design and development of Wave Energy Converters. Recently, in 2022, they became the Chief Engineer at SOFEC, Inc.
Miles Hobdy holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, which they obtained from 1985 to 1989. Prior to that, they completed an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Mechanical Drafting from Texas State Technical College between 1980 and 1982. Additionally, they have obtained a certification as a Professional Engineer from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, although the specific month and year of obtaining this certification are unknown.
