Gerd Pfeiffer

Gerd Pfeiffer has over three decades of experience in semiconductor technology and engineering, currently serving as a Product Designer in the Connect SOI Business Unit at SOITEC since February 2021. Prior to this role, Gerd was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, focusing on global materials engineering and leading efforts in Silicon wafer technology from July 2015 to January 2021. Gerd also held the position of Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM from January 2000 to June 2015, overseeing Silicon wafer engineering for microelectronics production. Gerd began the career as an Applications Engineer at MEMC Electronic Materials and progressed through roles that included managing characterization and quality assurance at SiBond, L.L.C, and conducting electrical characterization research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research. Gerd holds a Ph.D. in Physics from North Carolina State University and has also studied at The Philipp University of Marburg.
