Laura Avant

Laura Avant has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Laura started their career as a Membership Development Intern at Visit Phoenix, where they focused on sustainability initiatives. Laura then worked as a Sustainability Consultant and Eco-Journalist at Green Nurture, contributing to blog posts and aiding in social media and marketing campaigns. Avant then joined Dixie Chemical Company as a Marketing Coordinator, leading a company-wide rebranding project and coordinating industry events. Laura later joined Audubon Companies as a Marketing Communications Specialist, managing strategic communications and developing messaging strategies. Avant also served as the Board Chair at SocialMedia.org, a confidential membership organization for social media leaders. Currently, they are working at NRG Energy, where they have held various roles including Director of Sustainability Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement and Director of Corporate Communications. Their responsibilities include enhancing NRG's reputation, fostering relationships across the company, and offering strategic counsel to advance company initiatives. Laura Avant received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Sustainability: International Development from Arizona State University, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, they completed a course in Advanced Spanish Conversation and Culture at Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología. Laura Avant also attended Westlake High School from 2001 to 2005.
