Walter Stone

Senior Vice President, Environment & Deputy General Counsel at NRG Energy

Walter Stone has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Starting from 1986, they worked as a Chemical Engineer at Versar until 1989. Walter then transitioned into law and joined Arnold & Porter as an Associate from 1991 to 1996. Following this, they worked as an Associate at Milbank LLP from 1996 to 2000. In 2000, they joined OptiGlobe Communications, Inc. as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, eventually becoming the General Counsel from 2001 to 2003. From 2003 to 2006, they held the position of General Counsel & Senior Vice President at Primus Telecommunications, Inc. Moving on, they worked at NRG Energy from 2006 to present, starting as the Regional General Counsel for Mid-Atlantic Assets, then progressing to Vice President and subsequently Senior Vice President, serving in various legal positions such as Assistant General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel.

Walter Stone earned their JD with High Honors from The George Washington University Law School from 1988 to 1991. Prior to that, they obtained a BS in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University between 1982 and 1986. Walter completed their college preparatory education at Gonzaga College High School from 1979 to 1982.
