Mike Wilkerson has a long and varied work experience. Mike began their career in 2006 working as an I.T. Department employee for the Town of Vienna, VA Government. In 2010, they worked at the University of Virginia in the LAVA Research Lab, where they specialized in GPGPU programming, optimizing algorithms for parallel execution on Nvidia graphics hardware, and porting applications written in Nvidia's CUDA to OpenCL. In 2012, they became a DevOps Engineer at WillowTree Apps, Inc, where they were responsible for backend software engineering and infrastructure architecture. In 2015, they worked as a DevOps Engineer at Cloudistics, where they were responsible for operations, automation, deployment, and building/maintaining on-site and datacenter infrastructure. Mike then worked as a Senior Cloud Engineer at REAN Cloud, where they were responsible for system design and architecture, leading client-facing projects and internal development teams, and developing automation and delivery pipelines for provisioning cloud infrastructure/applications. In 2018, they joined Hitachi Vantara, where they held various roles, including Principal Architect | Chief Architect, Cloud Data Lake, Acting Director of Engineering Technology, Digital Insights, and Principal Architect and Solutions Builder Team Lead. Most recently, in 2021, they became the Director of Engineering at SolasAI, where they are responsible for using cutting-edge AI and deep industry expertise to illuminate and reduce causes of disparate impact, disparate treatment, and other forms of bias in algorithmic models.

Mike Wilkerson obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia's School of Engineering. In 2016, they obtained an AWS Certified Developer - Associate from Amazon Web Services. In 2018, they obtained an AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional from Amazon Web Services.
