Shireen Davies is currently the Chief Executive Officer at SOLASTA Bio, a position they have held since April 2021. Prior to this role, they were a Professor of Integrative Cell Signalling at the University of Glasgow, where they conducted research funded by various organizations including Biotechnological and Biological Sciences Research Council UKRI and the European Union. Shireen also served as a BBSRC Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellow at the university. From 2014 to 2016, they held a Flexible Interchange Award with Industry at BBSRC. Shireen has also worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of Malaya in 2015. Shireen has a long history with the University of Glasgow, where they held positions such as Reader (Associate Professor), Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor), and Post-doctoral researcher. Prior to that, they were a BBSRC David Phillips Fellow from 1996 to 2001. Shireen began their career as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow and the University of Oregon. Shireen completed their PhD at the University of Glasgow in 1988, focusing on oncogenic cell signaling.
Shireen Davies holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Aberdeen. Shireen also has a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Glasgow. Shireen has additional certifications, including completion of the StellarHE Strategic Executive Development Programme, which was offered by the Diversity Practice and Institute of Leadership and Management.
