James Luffman

James Luffman has a diverse work experience in the weather and renewable energy industries. James co-founded Solcast in 2016 and served as the CEO, leading the company's global solar data services. Solcast has over 40,000 users worldwide and was ranked as the top Solar Irradiance API. Luffman was also the CEO and co-founder of Solcast API, which provided data globally and had a significant user base in the UK and the US. Prior to Solcast, Luffman worked at MetraWeather and MetService as the General Manager of Industry and Data Services. James also held the role of General Manager of Sales for Australia and New Zealand at MetService, where they managed a team and developed new acquisitions and partnerships. Luffman was the Head of Sales and Forecast Systems at Weatherzone and held a leadership position in developing business tools and back-end forecasting models. James also served as the Head of Energy Weather Services at The Weather Company Pty Ltd, leading market and product development for the renewable energy industry. Earlier in their career, Luffman worked as a Climate Modelling Analyst at UNSW Climate Change Research Centre and as a Meteorologist at The Weather Company (Australia).

James Luffman obtained their Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Meteorology and Physical Oceanography from UNSW, which they pursued from 2002 to 2006. Later, they attended AGSM @ UNSW Business School and completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) Executive degree between 2012 and 2016.
