Colin Nugent

Colin Nugent is an experienced maritime professional with a robust background in compliance, auditing, and safety management systems. Currently serving as Senior Lecturer in Maritime Management and Professional Maritime Courses at Solent University since December 2021, Colin has previously held significant roles at Carnival Corporation, including Director Maritime Audit Services and Head of Compliance for Carnival UK. Responsibilities included overseeing the audit functions related to International Safety Management, International Ship & Port Facility Security Code, and environmental operations across a fleet of cruise ships. Colin’s career began in the Royal Navy, where a distinguished service as a Lieutenant Commander spanned from 1978 to 2004. Colin holds a Master of Science degree in Shipping Operations from Solent University and completed education at Salesian College in Merseyside.
