Vanessa McCaleb has over 15 years of experience in software development, database engineering, and database administration. Vanessa began their career in 2004 as an Oracle Database Administrator at BAE Systems, where they were responsible for creating objects, automating routine administrative tasks, and gathering metrics to predict database growth. In 2009, they moved to General Dynamics Information Technology and acted as a Database Administrator, coalescing disparate data from the International Monetary Fund, United Nation's Comtrade, and Global Trade Atlas databases. In 2011, they joined Qvine Corporation as a Database Administrator, gathering business requirements and developing them into technical specifications, as well as designing physical and logical databases for a COTS tool implementation. In 2014, Vanessa became an Architect/Principal Consultant at Epikuru. Finally, in 2015, they joined Preferred Systems Solutions as a Software Developer and Database Engineer. As a Software Developer, they were part of a team responsible for the Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) process of structured and unstructured datasets, often in foreign languages. As a Database Engineer, they led a group of DBA's in providing shared data services.

Vanessa McCaleb has a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University, where they studied Social Work from 1991 to 1995. Vanessa also has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from the University of South Carolina, which they obtained from 1987 to 1991. Additionally, they hold certifications from (ISC)2, Cisco, and Oracle, including Certified Information Systems Security Professional, CISSP; Cisco Certified Design Associate, CCDA; Cisco Certified Network Associate, CCNA; and Oracle Certified Associate, OCA.
