Jean Bissonnette

Vice President at Sollio Cooperative Group

Jean Bissonnette operates a dairy and grain farm in Saint-Polycarpe, on the west side of Montérégie. With a quota of 98 kg and an emphasis on high production, the Val-Bisson name has earned a solid reputation. Jean uses direct drilling to grow crops on 129 hectares. The business also sells Holstein genetics.

Jean has a diploma in zootechnics from Institut de technologie agroalimentaire (ITA) and is involved with numerous organizations, including AJRQ (Association des jeunes ruraux du Québec), FRAQ (Fédération de la relève agricole), a management union, and Promutuel. He has been on the board of his cooperative since 2001 and served as president for eight years. Since La Coop Unifrontières was created, he has been vice president.

Jean was on the La Coop fédérée's, now Sollio Cooperative Group, board of directors from 2011 to 2016 and chaired the Audit Committee. He also took a training course on corporate governance (ASC) at Université Laval. Since 2016 he has served on the Quebec Artificial Breeding Centre (CIAQ) board of directors, where he helped set up the Governance Committee that he currently chairs. He is also on the board of directors of Semex Alliance, an international bovine breeding organization. He is also on the board of directors of Uniag Cooperative.
