Declan McAleese

Declan McAleese has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Declan started their career at Sun Microsystems as a Services Global Labs Engineer, where they provided technical support to large customers and collaborated with engineers worldwide. At Alfa Financial Software, they held various roles such as Software Developer, Customer Support Engineer, Development and Test Lead, Software Development Manager, and eventually became a Senior Solution Architect. In this position, they were responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting asset finance portfolio management software. Declan also worked on integrating Alfa Systems with enterprise landscapes in Europe and North America.

After Alfa Financial Software, Declan joined Pivotal Software, Inc. as a Platform Architect. Here, they championed Pivotal's Kubernetes offering and Cloud Foundry container product, advocating for agile software development and devops practices for cloud-native applications. Declan also helped customers with application modernization and cloud migrations. Following this, they joined VMware through the acquisition of Pivotal, where they served as a Specialist Solutions Engineer. In this role, they designed modern platforms based on the VMware Tanzu product portfolio to help global customers in the financial services sector build, run, manage, and succeed with their modern applications.

Most recently, Declan worked at NearForm as a Consulting & Solutions Principal. Here, they helped customers accelerate digital delivery, formulated technical and business solutions for digital transformation, and supported the delivery team throughout client projects. Declan also played a role in developing and nurturing customer accounts and codifying NearForm's evolving propositions as the company grew rapidly.

In the future, Declan will be joining solo.io as a Field Engineer, starting in 2023.

Declan McAleese has a BSc (Hons) degree in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh. In addition, they have obtained certifications as a Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and a Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) in August 2020 and May 2020 respectively.
