Fernando A. Araujo

Associate Principal, Chicago at SOLOMON, CORDWELL, BUENZ & ASSOCIATES, INC

As the Director of Technical Design Services at SCB, Fernando oversees quality management procedures, sustainable design and administration, as well as library resources to provide technical leadership during the design and execution of projects. With 30+ years of experience focused on design, documentation, and implementation of high-performance buildings, Fernando leads SCB’s Building Science Working Group, enhancing SCB’s in-house integration of science and design, studying market trends, and monitoring solutions to common challenges. His expertise includes large-scale multifamily residential, mixed-use, hospitality, aviation, commercial office, and higher education projects.

Fernando serves as the Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Building Enclosure Council of Chicago. He has also acted as Chair and served on the Board of Directors of Programs for the Chicago chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) since 2011. He is certified with the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB), is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and is a registered City of Chicago Energy Professional. He has presented on integrated design and high-performance enclosures at AIA and CSI professional development seminars and conferences. Fernando earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
