Bjarne Grimstad has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Bjarne is currently serving as the CTO at Solution Seeker since 2015. Additionally, they hold a position as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) since 2020. In this role, they lecture and supervises research in the fields of machine learning and mathematical optimization. At NTNU, Bjarne worked as a PhD fellow and ITK/IO-center between 2011 and 2015, where they focused on daily production optimization for subsea production systems.
Bjarne has also worked as an IOC researcher on production optimization at BP from 2012 to 2015. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Engineer, Production Performance Services at FMC Technologies from 2009 to 2011. Bjarne started their career with a summer internship at Statoil in 2008, where they worked on nonlinear model predictive control of a subsea boosting station. Bjarne also gained industry experience through summer internships at TANDBERG in 2007 and as a Project Responsible at St. Olavs Hospital, Trondheim University Hospital in the same year.
Throughout their career, Bjarne has gained expertise in various areas such as flow engineering, subsea production systems, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Bjarne aspires to develop smarter, data-driven methods for decision support and process optimization.
Bjarne Grimstad began their education at the Royal Norwegian Air Force Officer Candidate School (LBS) in 2003, where they obtained a degree in Military and Strategic Leadership and became a Sergeant in 2004. Bjarne then pursued a Master's Degree in Engineering Cybernetics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), completing it in 2009. Building upon their expertise, Grimstad went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in mathematical optimization and operations research from the same institution, which they successfully accomplished between 2011 and 2015.
