James Diewald

James Diewald is an Associate Principal and Design Architect at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) since August 2015, specializing in the design and advancement of large-scale projects that blend architecture and urbanism. Diewald has prior experience as a lecturer at the University of Southern California, where coordination of a core design studio focused on collective housing in Los Angeles took place. Design leadership was demonstrated at querkraft architekten zt gmbh, overseeing architectural and urban design projects across Austria, Germany, and France. Additional roles included project leadership at Murmur, managing educational courses at UCLA and Auburn University, and collaborative design efforts at Behnisch Architekten on Harvard's Allston Science Project. Diewald holds a Master of Architecture in Architecture & Urban Design from UCLA and a Bachelor of Architecture from Miami University.
