Nicholas Clermont has over 12 years of professional experience. From 2016 to present, they have been the Founder, Chief Design Officer, and Chief Operation Officer of SomaDetect, a company that helps dairy farmers assess milk quality, diagnose cow diseases and improve management practices. Nicholas has grown the company from 3 to 25 employees and commercialized an inline milk quality sensor and data visualization software. From 2009 to 2010, they were an Intern for Fair Trade Outreach at Engineers Without Borders Canada, where they designed a Canada-wide program with Loblaws to promote Fair Trade Certified products and provided support to student chapters across Canada. Lastly, from 2007 to 2008, they were the Strategic Coordinator for Sustainable Development at Roche ltée, Groupe-conseil, where they developed strategic plans to integrate sustainability consulting amongst the services offered, developed a training program for employees on sustainability and sustainable design, and provided training to project management engineers and upper management on sustainable design and practices.

Nicholas Clermont obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Université Laval in 2009, with a field of study in International/Global Studies. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from the same university in 2006, with a field of study in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Entrepreneurship. In 2016, they enrolled in B4C - Social entreprise accelerator, though no degree or field of study was noted. No additional certifications were listed.
