James Engel

James Engel is an experienced executive in the insurance and reinsurance industry, currently serving as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Claim Officer at Sompo International since April 2015, overseeing global claims operations across various lines of business. Prior to this role, Engel held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Claim Officer for North America and South America at Liberty International Underwriters from September 2010 to April 2015. Engel also founded Engel Dispute Resolution, LLC, offering arbitration, mediation, and consulting services from June 2008 to September 2010. Engel's earlier positions include Executive Vice President and Chief Claim Officer for North America at Zurich Financial Services (2002-2008), Executive Vice President and Chief Claim Officer for North America at ACE Group (1999-2002), and Senior Vice President and Chief Claim Officer for North America at CIGNA (1986-1999). Engel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Corporate Finance from Gannon University and completed educational programs at The Wharton School in 1994.
