Des Lacy OAM

Des Lacy OAM has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. They began their career as a Queensland Police Officer in 1975 and held various roles within the Queensland Police Service until 2015. During this time, they served as an Acting Chief Superintendent and held leadership positions such as Commander Strategic Services Branch and District Commander for the Gold Coast District. In these roles, they played a key role in the reduction of crime and ensuring the safe delivery of major events.

In 2015, Des Lacy OAM joined the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation as an Operations Coordinator - Security. They were responsible for developing risk assessments, operational plans, and coordinating responses to security issues during the Games. This experience brought them valuable knowledge in managing security for large-scale events.

Des Lacy OAM continued to work in the field of event security, serving as a Security Consultant for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Commonwealth Sport organization. They also worked as an Associate and Senior Investigator at CorpSec International Pty Ltd, where they contributed their investigative skills.

Des Lacy OAM's involvement with the FBI National Academy Associates Asia Pacific Chapter demonstrated their dedication to law enforcement and international collaboration. In their role as Chief Operating Officer and Secretary, they managed the membership and training of graduates from the FBI National Academy.

More recently, Des Lacy OAM worked as a Support Specialist at Sonder, where they provided Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and debriefing services to companies experiencing critical incidents. This role allowed them to support employees during challenging times in their workplace.

Des Lacy OAM completed a Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) in Education and Training at Churchill Education in 2019. Prior to that, they received a Certificate in Leadership (Law Enforcement) in Organizational Leadership from the University of Virginia in 1999. In 1995, Des Lacy OAM obtained a Graduate Certificate in Business Management from Charles Sturt University, specializing in Business Administration and Management. Additionally, they earned a Bachelor of Business in Human Resource Management from Griffith University in 1994.
