Megan Hanekom

Megan Hanekom has a diverse work experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse counseling. Megan currently works at Colorado Medication Assisted Recovery (CMAR) as a Primary Therapist / Compliance Officer. Prior to that, they were a Mental Health Therapist at SonderMind. Megan Hanekom also has experience as a Primary Therapist at Red Rock Recovery Center and as a Substance Abuse Counselor at Behavioral Health Group - BHG. Megan has gained valuable experience through internships at Jefferson Center for Mental Health and University of Denver, where they served as an Adult Outpatient Intern and Counselor Trainee, respectively. Megan Hanekom also has experience in school counseling as a School Counseling Intern at Denver Public Schools. Additionally, they have worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist at Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota.

Megan Hanekom holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology and Spanish at Concordia College. In terms of additional certifications, Megan holds a National Certified Counselor (NCC) certification from The National Board for Certified Counselors, as well as a Licensed Addiction Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor certification from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. Megan also obtained a CPR/AED/First Aid certification from the American Heart Association in May 2020 and has completed the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program offered by the Crisis Prevention Institute.
