Luis Benavente

CEO at SONOC

Luis Benavente is currently the CEO at SONOC, a position they have held since September 2005. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Technology Officer at SONOC from September 2002 to September 2005. In this role, they were responsible for achieving migration to VoIP of around 80% of the traffic of the company, and the integration of new networks and employees of companies’ acquired by SONOC, together with the installation of the new nodes worldwide after the creation of a Joint Venture with Softbank.

Before joining SONOC, Luis served as the Director of Research Development at Business Telecommunications Services from April 1999 to September 2002. In this role, they were responsible for leading the research and development team in exploring and developing new technologies that would improve the company’s telecommunications services.

Prior to that, Luis worked as a Network Engineer at Amadeus from March 1988 to April 1999. In this role, they were responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network systems.

Thanks to their experience and expertise in telecommunications, technology services, and partnership development, Luis has been able to successfully apply Artificial Intelligence in the optimisation of SONOC’s processes, fraud control and advanced analytics, and develop blockchain based services.

Luis Benavente has a certificate in Fintech from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an Executive MBA from Escuela de Organización Industrial, and a degree in Strategic Marketing from the University of Miami. Luis also has a degree in Physics from Universidad de Zaragoza.
