Robert Fitzgerald has a diverse professional background, with experience in both the gaming industry and the brewing industry. In 2000, they began working at PlayStation as an artist, where they were responsible for creating character models, textures, and in-game graphics for MLB titles on various platforms. Robert also contributed to front end design and directed actors through motion capture performances. In 2004, they were promoted to the role of Senior Character Artist / CG Modeler / Texture Artist, where they applied their expertise in silhouette, topology, and mesh economy. Robert also constructed custom resurfacing tools for 3D scanned assets and contributed to the art style of the MLB franchise. Fitzgerald worked at PlayStation until 2020, actively shaping the character pipeline and developing various tools and pipelines to support production.
In 2016, Fitzgerald co-founded Gunwhale Ales, a brewing company that focuses on yeast-driven Saisons, hoppy IPAs, and rustic, wild, and sour beers. As a Certified Cicerone and co-founder, they played a crucial role in striking a balance between farmhouse brewing and pioneering hop-forward styles.
Alongside their work in the gaming and brewing industries, Fitzgerald also pursued a career as a fine artist since 1996. Additionally, in 2007, they co-founded Curate Creative, a creative consulting group that specializes in brand building through self-managed solutions.
Robert Fitzgerald completed their high school education at La Jolla High School from 1992 to 1996. Robert then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art at the University of Southern California from 1997 to 2000. Additionally, in 1998, they attended Syracuse University in Florence, Italy, where they studied Fine Art (Studio Arts) for one year. During an unspecified time period, Robert also engaged in further artistic education at Watts Atelier, focusing on Fine Art.
