Tim Layton

Partner & Co-Founder at Sorenson Capital

Tim Layton is a co-founder and partner of Sorenson Capital and helped establish the strategy and approach for the firm. Tim’s focus has been primarily on supporting and improving the performance of the Sorenson Capital Portfolio. Tim recently returned from a three-year sabbatical during which he served as a volunteer mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Tim’s has extensive experience in a wide range of businesses, including technology, healthcare, manufacturing, energy, aerospace, consumer products, business services, and franchising and in achieving transformational improvements in a wide range of business processes. He formed and led the firm’s Performance Group, a team of seasoned operating partners who have assisted management teams in improving performance.

Prior to Sorenson, Tim was partner in Alpine Consolidated, an industry consolidation firm. Earlier, he served as CEO of Medeco Security Locks, the leading provider of ultra-high-security products to government and industry, and as vice president of strategic planning for a Fortune 500 Industrial company.

Tim holds an MBA from Brigham Young University and a Bachelor of Science in statistics with a minor in economics also from BYU, where he graduated top of his class.
