Gavin Schaefer

Gavin Schaefer is a Principal Architect at Sound Transit, leading the design and standardization of the $53 billion ST3 transit system expansion, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary alignment and quality control across various projects. Previously, Gavin served as Associate Director of Building Innovations at Sidewalk Labs, managing off-site construction systems and sustainability metrics. Experience also includes a role as Project Lead/Architect at KATERRA, focusing on large-scale mixed-use projects and sustainability initiatives, alongside positions at the City of Vancouver and Perkins and Will, where complex urban design and development planning were central. Gavin's academic background includes a Master’s in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Oxford and a Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University, complemented by a diverse portfolio of freelance design work and involvement in various committees related to computational design and sustainability.
