Richard Burgess

Richard Burgess is the current Director at SoundExchange. Richard has previously worked as an IT Helpdesk and Audio Video Support Specialist for The Chronicle of Higher Education and as a Help Desk Assistant / Audio-Video Specialist for the National Democratic Institute (NDI).

Burgess has extensive experience in computer technology and audio-visual support. Richard has provided support to various field offices located around the world for the NDI, including IBM Lenovo laptop imagining, Dell Desktop repairs, joining users to the corporate cloud network, supporting high profile video conferencing meetings, lectures and conferences, with live web streaming conferences and interviews for heads of countries and high ranking political and corporate personalities. Richard has also done video editing and full productions.

At The Chronicle of Higher Education, Burgess was responsible for providing day to day support for users' computer related requirements, including desktop support for both PC and Mac computer systems. Richard also created images using Ghost and Casper products, maintained inventory and managed loaner laptops and wifi wireless devices for staff and reporters in the field. In addition, they supported and redesigned the recording studio's radio mixer and added computer components for recording all audio tracks that are broadcast over NPR or used on the company's website.

Burgess began their educational career at Cardozo Senior High before moving on to Rabaut JHS. Richard later attended the University of the District of Columbia, where they studied computer science. After graduation, they completed a certification certificate program in weapons of mass destruction awareness from the District of Columbia - Department of Health. Richard also holds a certificate in understanding and planning for school bomb incidents from the New Mexico Tech - Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center. In addition, Burgess has completed community emergency response training from Serve DC - Community Emergency Response Team. Richard is also certified in the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) from the PCI Security Standards Council.
