Robert Calhoun

Robert Calhoun has extensive work experience in the technology industry. Robert started their career in 1996 as a Graduate Research Assistant at Quantum Corporation, where they focused on developing magnetic materials for disk drive heads. During their time there, they were granted a patent for a process they developed. In 1999, they joined ShotSpotter, Inc. as a Principal Engineer. In this role, they led the Detection Team, specializing in acoustic gunshot detection, location, and classification. Robert's responsibilities included working on server infrastructure, embedded software, and developing AJAX-heavy HTML5 apps for monitoring and reporting purposes.

Robert Calhoun obtained a Ph.D. in Metallurgy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 1990 and 1998. Prior to that, they earned a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from the same institution from 1986 to 1990.
