Carla Sharpe

Carla Sharpe is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the space sector and a strong educational background in finance and space science. Currently serving as Africa Programme Manager and Co-Founder at SKA South Africa since May 2009, Carla has been pivotal in fostering collaboration among industry, academia, and civil society in the South African space arena. As the Founder of Women in Aerospace Africa and Director of the Foundation for Space Development, Carla promotes space awareness and education throughout Africa. Prior roles include Operations Manager at Ashgrove Marketing and General Manager at Leatt Corporation, coupled with expertise in financial management demonstrated during tenure as Finance and Compliance Manager at Burlington Gap. Educational qualifications comprise a PhD in Space Science from the University of Cape Town, an EMBA in Business with a focus on Space Management from the International Space University, and a Post Graduate in Space Technology from the University of Cape Town. Additionally, Carla holds a BCom in Finance and Economics from the University of Cape Town.
