The South African Rugby Union (SA Rugby) is the governing body for rugby in South Africa. It is what is called an “an association of persons with perpetual succession and juristic personality”. In practical terms, SA Rugby is a federation of 14 independent rugby unions. All of them must abide by the SA Rugby constitution, which can found on the SA Rugby website – www.springboks.rugby. SA Rugby’s highest authority is the General Meeting, which consists of those 14 provincial member unions, covering every square inch of South Africa. Each union is responsible for running rugby within its boundaries from amateur to professional level.
