Zoya Banan is an experienced professional in air quality management and energy systems. Currently serving as Acting Supervisor at South Coast Air Quality Management District since June 2020, Zoya leads a team focused on creating local regulations to reduce NOx emissions from freight rail yards. Previously, Zoya held roles as an Air Quality Specialist, Consultant at PSE Healthy Energy, and Graduate Research Assistant at Penn State University, where PhD research involved developing a Gaussian plume model for emissions dispersion from shale gas wellsites. Zoya's academic background includes a PhD in Energy Management and Policy from Penn State University, a Master's degree in Energy Systems Engineering, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, both from Sharif University of Technology. Additionally, Zoya has significant experience as a teaching assistant in various engineering and environmental core courses.
