Katie Hubbart is an experienced professional in academic affairs and legal assistance, currently serving as an Academic Affairs Specialist and Legal Assistant at the South Dakota Board of Regents since July 2012. Prior to this role, Katie worked as a Staff Assistant in the Washington, DC office of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck from March 2011 to May 2012, and as a Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent for the United States House of Representatives from May 2010 to January 2011. Additionally, Katie gained valuable experience through internships with Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and Senator Tim Johnson in June and July 2009. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota, obtained in 2010.

The Board of Regents has constitutional authority to govern the system of public higher education in the state of South Dakota. The Board, supported by an executive director and staff, provides leadership and sets policies for programs and services delivered by its six public universities and two schools serving special K-12 populations.
