Robert R. Pritchard

Dr. Robert Pritchard has served as South Orangetown Central School District Superintendent since July 2015. Prior to joining the district, he was Superintendent of Mexico Academy and Central School District in Oswego County, New York and an Oswego County delegate to the New York State Council of School Superintendents.

Dr. Pritchard began his career as an educational leader in the Kingston City School District in Ulster County, New York where he served as Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations (2007-2010), Middle School Principal (2004-2007), and Vice Principal (1999-2004). From 2007-2010, he served on the Budget and Finance Committee for the New York State Association of Small City School Districts. Dr. Pritchard taught high school social studies at the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services (1998-1999) and at the Oxford Academy and Central School District (1994-1997).

Before entering the field of K-12 public education, Dr. Pritchard worked in corporate sector management. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army (1984-1988) and subsequently in the U.S. Army Reserves, with a year-long combat tour in Afghanistan (2002-2003). Dr. Pritchard retired from the U.S. Army Reserves at a Lieutenant Colonel in 2008.

Dr. Pritchard holds a BS degree in General Engineering from the United States Military Academy, an MBA degree from Pace University, an MS degree in Educational Administration from the University at Albany, and an Ed.D. degree in Educational Administration from Seton Hall University.
