Mark Stone

Mark Stone is the current CEO at SOUTH OXFORDSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL. Prior to this, they were with the UK Civil Service from October 2015 to July 2018 where they were a member of the UK Government Data Steering Group. In this role, they oversaw the government-wide Data and ethics agenda, reported and made recommendations directly to Ministers. Mark also coordinated the activity of a wide range of data and integration initiatives across the U.K., including directing and overseeing the work of the public sector wide data leaders group that was tasked with revolutionising the use of data and systems integration across the public sector. This group was the primary independent advisors to Parliament on a wide range of data and data mining insight matters.

From September 2014 to April 2016, Mark was Interim Director of Transformation and ICT at Enfield Council. Prior to that, they were with Kent County Council from December 2012 to February 2013 as part of their Transformation Capacity Assessment team. Mark then took on the role of Transformation Director at Wiltshire Council from January 2012 to July 2014, followed by Interim Transformation and Information Services Programme Director from October 2011 to January 2012, also at Wiltshire Council.

Mark Stone has a MA in Public Sector Management from the University of York and a Crediton from Landscore CP.
