David Murphy

David Murphy is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in developing net-zero strategies and empowering organizations in carbon markets. Currently serving as the Director at South Pole since November 2021, David focuses on enabling clients to thrive in global carbon markets. Previously, as the Head of Energy and Climate Protection for the City of Munich from November 2014 to March 2020, David led initiatives to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 and managed a transformation program encompassing strategy, operations, and team management. David's earlier career at Siemens included roles such as Lead Consultant for Energy & Environmental Services, where contributions to the Energy Analytics service garnered the Siemens Service Excellence award, and Strategy Lead for Sustainability. David's educational background includes a Master's in Sustainable Development from Imperial College London, a BA (Hons) in European Finance and Accounting from Leeds Beckett University, and a Diploma in Business Administration focused on European Financial Management from HSB Hochschule Bremen.
