Vanessa Torres

Chief Technology Officer at South32

Vanessa Torres is the current Chief Technology Officer at South32. Vanessa has also previously worked as the Vice President Production, Logistics and Infrastructure, as well as the Vice President Operational Infrastructure, at BHP. Torres has also been responsible for engineering and project studies for all industrial projects at Vale Inco on a global scale.

Vanessa Torres has a Ph.D. in Minerals Engineering & Projects from Universidade de São Paulo, an M.Eng in Minerals Engineering from the same school, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Vanessa also has an Executive Education from INSEAD in Partnerships and Strategic Alliances, as well as Managing Young Global Enterprises and International Project Management. Vanessa Torres is also a Visiting Scholar in Minerals Engineering at The University of British Columbia, and they completed the Accelerated Development Programme at London Business School.

They are on a team with Rowena Smith - Chief Sustainability Officer, Jason Economidis - COO, and Katie Tovich - CFO. Vanessa Torres reports to Graham Kerr, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.
