William A. Burns

William A. Burns currently serves as the Executive Director of External Affairs & Planning at Southcoast Health since August 2014, where responsibilities include managing regulatory and legislative affairs across local, state, and federal levels while acting as a liaison between the community and leadership. Previously, from August 2013 to July 2014, Burns was the Director of Workforce and Green Initiatives at Bristol Community College, overseeing development and implementation of initiatives and grant management. From 2007 to 2012, Burns served as Chief of Staff to Mayor Scott W. Lang in New Bedford, managing city operations and policy implementation for a municipality of 100,000. Additionally, Burns held the position of Chief of Staff for Senator Mark Montigny in the Massachusetts State Senate from 1993 to 2007, with a focus on staff management and policy. Early in the career, Burns worked as a Tax Examiner and Auditor at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue from 1984 to 1992. Academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree and Certificate in Marketing/Accounting from Bentley University.
