Dean Thompson

Dean Thompson is a seasoned professional in the optical industry with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as a Public Speaker at Alcon, Dean specializes in educating opticians in Alberta on contact lens product knowledge. As Chair of the Board of Directors for the Association of Opticians of Alberta, Dean is pivotal in the transition to a standalone association. Additionally, Dean holds the position of Board Chair for the Vision Care Program Advisory Committee at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), focusing on enhancing optician training standards to address industry shortages. Dean has also contributed as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at SAIT, teaching Business Development, Sales, and Marketing to student opticians. With a long-term role as a Licensed Optician at Costco Wholesale, combined with previous leadership and advisory roles at multiple educational institutions, Dean's expertise spans from hands-on optical practice to education and industry development.
