Joanne Mello

Joanne Mello began their work experience as an Attorney at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP in 2002. Joanne then worked as an Attorney at Goodwin Procter LLP from January 2005 to June 2005. From August 2005 to February 2007, they served as an Attorney at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. Joanne joined Southern Company Gas in March 2007 as a Senior Corporate Counsel, and later became the Associate General Counsel/Chief Retail Counsel/Senior Retail Counsel from February 2012 to November 2018. Joanne then held the role of Assistant to President & CEO from November 2018 to April 2020, where they supported the company's strategic goals and led the Innovation Council. Joanne continued their journey at Southern Company Gas as the Director of Sustainability and Energy Policy from April 2020 to November 2021. Currently, they are working as the Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Southern Company Gas. Additionally, Joanne is a Member of the Board of Trustees at The Nature Conservancy since March 2023.

Joanne Mello attended Harvard Law School from 1999 to 2002. Joanne did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study during their time there. Prior to attending Harvard, they attended Emory University from 1995 to 1999, where they obtained a BA/MA degree in Psychology and Political Science.
