Ning Zhang

Director Of Data Analytics at Southern Company Gas

Ning Zhang, Ph.D. Economics, has extensive experience in the energy industry. From 2007 onwards, they served as the Director of Data Analytics at Southern Company Gas, where they provided quantitative analysis of risk-adjusted modeling and conducted research into new methods of modeling for energy assets. In this role, they had direct oversight of algorithms and calculations within all structuring models and introduced new methods to value market risks. Prior to this, from 2005 to 2007, Ning worked as a Senior Risk Analyst at Edison Mission Energy, where they defined a cutting-edge method for VaR of FTR/TCC contracts and provided analytic support to trading desks in quantifying and controlling risks of financial energy derivatives.

Ning Zhang, Ph.D. in Economics, obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics from Renmin University of China in 1998. Ning then pursued their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Economics from the same university from 1998 to 2000. In 2005, they completed their Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University.
