Chris Ashton has a diverse range of work experience. From 2013 to 2018, they served as a Senior Electorate Officer at the Parliament of NSW. Following this, they worked at NSW Ministerial Offices in various roles, including Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff for different ministers. In 2015, they also took on roles at Shire Christian School as the Deputy Chairman and Director. Currently, they hold the position of Executive Director - Stakeholder Strategy and Relationships at Southern Cross University, starting in 2023.
Chris Ashton completed their higher school education at St Andrew's Cathedral School from 1991 to 1996, obtaining a Higher School Certificate. They then pursued a Master of Arts in Church history and historical theology from the Australian College of Theology from 2011 to 2013. Subsequently, Chris enrolled at the University of Sydney from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Master of US Studies with a focus on US history and politics from the United States Studies Centre. In 2020, they took the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors and obtained a certification as a Graduate (GAICD) in 2019.
