Steve Farmer is the Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police at Southern Nazarene University since February 2024, following a tenure as Chief of Police for the City of Upper Arlington, Ohio, from January 2019 to February 2024. In Upper Arlington, Steve led a department of 53 officers, developing a mental health program for officers, remodeling headquarters, crafting a multi-year Strategic Plan, and actively participating in regional task forces and community events. Alongside police work, Steve has served as an instructor for various training programs, including the Supervisor Training & Education Program and First Line Supervision courses at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy. Previous roles include Lieutenant at the City of Dublin, where responsibilities included managing support and operations services, Accreditation Manager, and Patrol Sergeant. Steve holds a BA in Communications & Psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and is currently attending the FBI National Academy.
